Gaza Crisis Continues

Jordan is concerned over the Palestinians using the West Bank as a launching pad for more kassam rocket attacks against Israel. You can bet they're worried that Israel will enter the West Bank in the same way that they entered Gaza and the Palestinians will try crossing the border into Jordan. Jordan wants no part of the Palestinians - especially Fatah and the PLO, who tried starting a civil war against King Hussein (Abdullah's father) in 1970. Black September ensued as the Jordanians tossed the PLO out of his country.

More kassams continue to be fired at Israel and still no word from the UN condemning such actions. The only thing to come out of the UN is static whenever Israel is harmed, and demands for cessation of Israeli action when Israel defends itself against the terrorists who launched this latest war and continue to prepare for the conflict.

And don't think for a moment that Fatah is somehow more moderate than Hamas. Both are trying to kill Israelis and destroy the state of Israel.
It has been cleared for publication Tuesday that Jamil Fukaha, the senior Fatah member who was apprehended in the Nablus casba, was involved in the planning of suicide attacks and arms trade.

Among other things, in February 2005 Fukaha assisted in the transfer of an explosives belt that was meant to be used in a thwarted terror attack in Jerusalem; the Fatah member was also in contact with Hizbullah operatives in Lebanon and is considered an expert bomb-maker.
Have no doubt that the Palestinians will demand his release along with hundreds of other Palestinians captured by Israel in exchange for Gilad Shalit, who remains in the hands of the terrorists.

Hamas' Haniyeh continues to play the media war like a virtuoso - saying that the only way to resolve this conflict is to resolve the issues from 1948. Haniyeh would like to wipe out the past 60 years of nonstop terrorism, multiple wars of aggression launched against Israel or preempted by Israeli action, the multiple lost opportunities to make peace with Israel, and to have a two-state solution, all with the express purpose of delegitimizing Israel's actions over that time.

Israel won Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza in 1967 from Jordan and Egypt respectively. Gaza was unilaterally given to the Palestinians last year, and promptly used the opportunity to launch their latest war. Israel has absolutely no interest in giving back Jerusalem and much of the West Bank, but that's precisely the goal Haniyeh has in mind.

UPDATE:
Seven Hamas terrorists who were captured by the IDF admit that they were planning attacks. The IDF discovered a bomb set along the Gaza fence. So much for being those peace loving Palestinians who would not be into killing but for Israel's provocations.

Egyptian President Mubarak says that Israel was close to releasing prisoners. What's his angle? To be relevant and his claims that Israel was close to a deal to exchange prisoners for Shalit would bolster his standing in the Arab world and among diplomats.

Carl in Jerusalem reminds folks just what the deal is with Ismail Haniyeh, whose op-ed was carried in the Washington Post (and I commented on it here).

Yesterday I reported that three children were injured in an apparent IDF attack. Israellycool reports now that those kids were not as young as first claimed. Instead of being as young as six years old, they were all teenagers.
