The Gaza Blame Game

Hamas continues to deny that it is 100% responsible for the invasion of Israel, the death of two Israeli soldiers and the capture of Gilad Shalit. Meshaal now claims that the situation is the fault of the United States. The United States?
"The American administration shoulders the responsibility for what is happening on the land of Palestine: the humanitarian catastrophe, the strikes against the infrastructure," he said.
What is Meshaal smoking and bogarting from the rest of us. It must be pretty damn good stuff to come away with a statement like that.

Then again, Olmert might be smoking the same stuff when he says that a prisoner swap might undermine moderate members of the PA. How about undermining Israel's national security, which should be his first and foremost concern.

Never mind that Hamas launches repeated missile attacks against Israel, kills Israeli soldiers and civilians without the slightest bit of remorse, attacks Israelis from within civilian areas using women and children as human shields, and otherwise continues to conspire to destroy Israel at the earliest possibile moment. And the Palestinians continue to disregard the fact that the terrorists continue to kill other Palestinians - a kassam rocket fired by the terrorists critically injured a Palestinian girl.

Israel defends itself against Palestinian terrorism and seeks the release of Shalit, but Meshaal and other Palestinian terror apologists blame Israel.

Meshaal also says that Shalit should continue to be kept alive. Oh, that's civil of him. Never mind that Shalit should never have been captured in the first place in an attack that precipitated this current conflict, but Meshaal now acts as though it's a positive gesture that Shalit should be kept alive.

The Israelis for their part continue to go after the terrorists. More airstrikes killed two PIJ members.

I find the fact that Likud may approve a demilitarized Palestinian Authority to be a joke. The PA was supposed to be largely demilitarized when it was formed. There were agreements signed limiting the kinds of weapons that the Palestinians could obtain and maintain. The Palestinians have completely ignored those provisions, and the kassam missiles are just a part of the arsenal that the terrorists running the PA have put together all while ignoring the social and humanitarian crisis of their own making.

The UN is delivering Japanese humanitarian aid to the Palestinians. Have no doubt that such aid frees up more funds for guns and ammo.

UPDATE:
It's no joke, the NYT claims that Hamas and Israel are far apart on a deal. Gee, could it be that Hamas continues to assert its inalienable right to destroy Israel and Israel maintains an inalienable right to defend itself?

Ed Morrissey notes that we have to understand that the Palestinians have a death wish, and no peace process is going to overcome that craving.

Fatah's al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade has announced that it now has a female suicide squadron ready to conduct attacks. Nothing like being an equal opportunity 'splodydope? In other words, Fatah figures that they need to rely on women suicide bombers because the guys keep getting caught. You can't kill Israelis if your suicide bombers keep getting picked up and picked off by Israel before they can go on their deadly way.

Israel continues to conduct airstrikes against the various terrorist groups operating in Gaza. A number of Palestinian kids were killed while playing soccer, but it may again have been due to Palestinian terrorists operating in the area although Israel was conducting attacks in the area as well.

Israellycool has more.

UPDATE:
Pamela at Atlas Shrugs and Van at Kesher Talk both were out rallying for Gilad Shalit's release in front of the Syrian Mission to the UN. If you're wondering why the rally took place in front of the Syrian mission and not somewhere else - the simple explanation is this - Syria is harboring Hamas leaders, and they're aiding and abetting Hamas in the ongoing war against Israel.
