Bombs in Bombay

We're now getting reports of multiple explosions in the Mumbai (Bombay) train system.
The Press Trust of India news agency said six blasts occurred along the city's commuter rail network, which is among the most crowded in the world.

India's financial center of Bombay and the capital of New Delhi were reportedly on high alert.
At least 15 are reported dead.

This is a developing story and I'll post as details become available.

UPDATE:
The death toll is rising, as it is now over 40 and more than 400 were injured.

UPDATE:
Make that more than 135 killed in the series of blasts that hit Bombay's train system. That number keeps rising. Pajamas Media has a good roundup of reaction, including from Indian bloggers.

UPDATE:
Hot Air has major updates, and reaction from around the world. NYC has raised the security levels at NYC subways in response. That's a prudent step considering the jihadists focus on transportation systems the world over.

UPDATE:
The death toll is now over 160, and more than 400 were injured. So who was behind the attacks? Was it al Qaeda? Or was it another group, Lashkar-e-Toiba along with local Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI)? Lashkar has targeted India before. Indian authorities are focusing on Dawood Ibrahim.

I'd lean towards Lashkar being the perpetrators, but as Allah notes, does it matter whether it was a bunch of local jihadis or a group affiliated with al Qaeda?

UPDATE:
Mumbai Help is acting as a clearinghouse for information about the attacks - particularly emergency relief and information about victims.

Quite a few people are blogging the terror attacks in India. Among those posting updates or providing commentary: Ed Morrissey, Stop the ACLU, Ed Driscoll, Blue Crab Boulevard, Assorted Babble, Bill Roggio, Atlas Shrugs, The Jawa Report, and Austin Bay.

UPDATE:
174 dead. 474 wounded. And the butchers' bill is still incomplete.
