Olmert's Admission; Iran's Media Coup

In an update to a story I noted here, Iran is going to play Israeli Prime Minister Olmert's admission of Israel's nuclear stockpile to the hilt. They're going to say that it shows that Israel is the true threat to the region's stability and hope that this meme gains traction.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said here Tuesday that the confession of the Zionist regime's prime minister that Israel has nuclear military potential shows real threat to the Middle East security and stability.

According to a report released by the Foreign Ministry Media Department, he added that such a confession reveals the vicious goals and plots of the Zionist regime to materialized the strategy of terror and continued occupation of the regional territories.

Turning to NPT article 10, he stated that the official admission of the Zionist regime's prime minister is a clear sign of the extraordinary conditions stemming from military and security threat against regional Islamic countries.

"Therefore, quick and efficient decisions need to be taken by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and other regional bodies to confront such evident threats," he added.

Hosseini regretted the controversial policy of some foreign powers and said that proponents of the Zionist regime disregard the regime's confession in possession of nuclear weapons and show no reaction to such a sensitive and significant matter.

"This is while, it considers a mere scientific and academic conference as a destructive measure aiming to reflect hatred," he added.

The spokesman noted that such controversial strategies show that freedom, democracy, justice and peace are used by supporters of the Zionist regime to the collective benefit of the Zionist regime and their real values are undermined daily.
Israel has been ambiguous about its nuclear stockpile and capabilities since Israel first brought the Dimona facility online. That ambiguity has served Israel well, and Israel would appear to have been in the nuclear club since the 1960s. Iran clearly wants to link the regional instability to Israel, which is something straight out of the ISG report, despite the fact that Iran is behind much of the violence via its proxies in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. Iran continues to support terrorist groups, provides material support to terrorists, and agitates the Islamists in the region to pick up arms against Israel to bring about its annihilation.

Iran further engages in the annual Holocaust denial conferences, all of which must be seen in the bigger picture of Ahmadinejad's repeated calls for Israel's elimination and downfall in the near term.

As for Israel's "vicious goals and plots" I'd suggest that survival is anything but a vicious goal or plot. It just happens that Israel's survival and continued existence is a thorn in the side of Ahmadinejad and the Islamists who cannot stand that someone other than one of their Islamists is dominating the region.

Gateway Pundit has more, including that his latest destroy Israel screed came at the Holocaust conference his country was holding in Tehran. And for those that are wondering about the Orthodox Jews in the photos with Ahmadinejad, those are a fringe group known as the Neturei Karta. That group denies Israel's very existence and is working to destroy Israel because they believe only the Messiah can actually bring about a Jewish state where Israel now exists; thus they provide 'cover' and are actively shilling for Ahmadinejad and his genocidal tendencies. Pamela at Atlas Shrugs has more.

Anyone who follows history should know by now that when a nation repeatedly threatens the existence of another nation or entity, that they should heed those warnings. Iran has been threatening Israel's existence for several years running, and that happens to coincide with a very public move to obtain the technological sophistication and equipment to enrich uranium. Since Iran has figured out how to operate its gas centrifuges, it is only a matter of time before they've enriched enough uranium to weapons grade, and they've already announced their intentions.

UPDATE:
Former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton is among those calling for charges of incitement to genocide to be brought against Ahmadinejad for his repeated calls to wipe Israel from the map.

UPDATE:
There is a method to Iran's madness. Iran needs to delegitimize Israel's very existence. Thus, it engages in rabid anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial, which were the underlying rationales for the formation of Israel in the aftermath of World War II. Israel has needed to retain strategic capabilities far in excess of other nations in the region precisely because there are nations and people like Ahmadinejad who seek to complete the job that the Nazis started. Olmert may have thought that referencing Israel's nuclear capabilities might give the Iranians pause as to what they want - that it was a show of strength.

The problem is that Iran doesn't care what Israel does back to Iran should Iran strike first. Iran doesn't care what happens to Iranians if Israel tries to take out the Iranian nuclear facilities. Either way, Ahmadinejad gets that much closer to his apocalyptic visions.

Yet, it is still important to take note of Bolton stepping up against Ahmadinejad by calling for him being charged with incitement to genocide. There are still people who recognize the difference between good and evil and right and wrong. They include: Gateway Pundit, Wake Up America, Ed Morrissey, Gina Cobb, and Pajamas Media.
