Amazon.com Missing in Action

If you're trying to reach Amazon.com, you're probably receiving an error message saying "Http/1.1 Service Unavailable"

No word on when the website will be up and running, but the company's stock is taking a hit in trading.

UPDATE:
Still no word on what's going on with the Amazon.com website, but the stock is down more than 3.5%.

It would be a good idea for someone at the company to issue a statement regarding the problem, if only to reassure investors that this is a glitch in the matrix and not something more serious.

UPDATE:
The service appears to be back up and running at just before 3pm EDT, although it does seem somewhat sluggish.

UPDATE:
I thought it was back up, but they're still having serious problems. They have at least put up an error page:
We're sorry!
An error occurred when we tried to process your request. Rest assured, we're already working on the problem and expect to resolve it shortly.

If you were trying to make a purchase, please check Your Account to confirm that the order was placed.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
Snafu.

UPDATE:
Amazon.com was down for approximately two hours, and the NYT has more on the outage. The company's non-US centric portals were not affected. (HT: NY Nana of LGF)
