A Little Late

A good leader is supposed to rally the troops and plan for contingencies and look at the strategic and tactical picture. Osama isn't a good leader. He's come out with yet another audio-only "video" that shows him to be completely out of touch with the facts on the ground.

Iraqis claim that they've wiped out 75% of al Qaeda operating in Iraq. Yet, the video claims that al Qaeda is succeeding. It is also curious how the video comes out within hours of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan, who was running an anti-Islamist platform that hits at the heart of the al Qaeda ideology. Not a word on that, but he's got one in the can about Iraq that sounds like a cribbed Harry Reid speech from pretty much anytime within the past year.

It will be interesting to see if Osama has time in his busy schedule to opine on the assassination of Bhutto, with all that it means for the Islamists in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
