The Match Is Lit

Lebanon has just screwed itself royally.

Lebanon's new government has recognized Hezbollah's "right" to fight Israel, a move that politicians fear could pave the way for war.
Hezbollah, the self-styled "resistance movement" which America and Britain consider a terrorist organization, could effectively receive official approval for its weaponry in southern Lebanon.

This may total about 30,000 missiles. The new weapons will be held in readiness to strike Israel, possibly in retaliation for any American attack on Iran, Hezbollah's chief paymaster. Such a move breaches United Nations resolution 1701, which ended the last war with Israel in 2006 by demanding Hezbollah's disarmament.
Hizbullah and Lebanon have been in violation of UN SCR 1701 from the outset, and this latest pronouncement effectively concedes that 1701 is no longer operative since the government will not even attempt to enforce the demilitarization of all militias operating in Lebanon.

Hizbullah has been stockpiling weapons for use against Israel for months, and Israeli intel suggests that the terrorist group has surpassed the amounts of weapons on hand at the start of the 2006 Hizbullah war and many of those weapons are likely of a greater range that puts far more of Israel in harm's way.

The failure of the UN is all but complete. It has failed Lebanon, and the Lebanese government has been thoroughly co opted by the terrorists in Hizbullah.
