If Israel didn't exist, the terrorists wouldn't need to launch rockets, prepare suicide bombers, and plan bombings against Israel. If Israel thwarts any of those preparations and kills the terrorists before they carry out their attacks, that is more than sufficient justification for even more overt terrorist attacks - the launching of rockets against Israel.
The media laps up the Hamas pronouncements on how Israel broke the truce without the slightest bit of hesitation. They ignore the rockets fired over the past six months, the terrorist attacks thwarted not by Palestinian security, but by the Israelis who have stopped infiltrators trying to enter Israel with weapons and bombs, and Israeli counterbattery fire against Palestinian terrorists launching rockets into Israel.
UPDATE:
Hamas appears that it would like to engage in a major conflict with the Israelis - if only to capture more Israeli troops to be used as bargaining chips. Yet an Israeli incursion into Gaza may be forthcoming if the Palestinian terrorists do not stop firing rockets at Israel.
And Israel's reluctance to defend itself only emboldens its enemies - both in Gaza and in South Lebanon.
