The New York Sun runs three different pieces today about UN scandals and missteps that warrant immediate attention.
First, there the refusal to look into the assassination of Rafik Harari in Lebanon that was the precursor to the Cedar Revolution. Syria, with Russian backing, has managed to avoid investigations into Syrian involvement. Harari was an ardent Lebanese nationalist who sought to end Syrian dominion over Lebanon.
Then, there's the UN Human Rights Commission looking into bringing Britain up before the Commission for the death of the Brazilian man on the subway. There are conflicting reports over what exactly happened, with early reports stating that he was fleeing when shot and killed, and more recent reports indicating that he was not doing anything wrong when he was killed. Britain has apologized to the family for the death, but apparently that isn't enough for the Human Rights Commission, which considers this to be a top priority, all while Dafur continues to burn, and human rights are violated on a daily basis in Iran, Saudi Arabia, and North Korea.
Finally, there's continuing problems in Kosovo.
