Whopper of a Tale in The Bergen Record

Wow. The North Jersey Muslim community doesn't see any radicals in their midst.

Yeah, I buy that one. Is it that they simply aren't looking, that they don't particularly care to know, or condone those activities.

After all, it was bunch of Muslims living in North Jersey (Jersey City to be precise) who were involved in the first WTC bombing.

Passaic County Sheriff Jerry Speziale, who has an agreement with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to house detainees in the county jail, said he has met several times with members of the Muslim and law enforcement communities to build relations between them.

"As far as knowledge of any radical sect, I don't have any," he said.

But a professor at Rutgers University cautions that while there is no proof, it doesn't mean that extremists don't exist or couldn't crop up quickly.

"To say it will happen in England or France or Spain and not happen here is ridiculous," said Paul Sprachman, vice director of Middle Eastern studies. "That's why I'm sure it will happen here."

Sprachman said messages of hate are frequently posted on Arabic- and Urdu-language Web sites and that it is just a matter of time before radical Muslims emerge in New Jersey.

I feel so much better knowing that the Bergen Record says that their investigation didn't reveal any " radical or extremist literature."

I don't buy it. Not by a long shot.

Not when terrorism experts like Steve Emerson say that there are likely terror cells operating in New Jersey. Heck, some of the 9/11 attackers were operating out of a Wayne, NJ hotel before they conducted the attacks. And, that's not counting the aforementioned terrorists who tried to blow up the WTC in 1993. Those terrorists were operating out of Jersey City, which is located in North Jersey.

Just can't let some things slide by. Like facts and history.
