Well, those 3-5 year estimates (then reduced to 6-9 months) were off by about 3-5 years. The MTA has managed to restore A/C service far earlier than anyone anticipated. Rush hour service will be a bit less than we're accustomed to, but it's better than nothing at all.
Kudos to the workers getting the system back on line.
The next step will be to work towards modernizing the entire system so that we don't have to worry about problems like this.
