You Don't Say: Ortiz and Manny On Doping List

David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez were on the 2003 doping list that included Alex Rodriguez and nearly 100 other major league baseball players? Really? You don't say. That's not exactly shocking. That would mean that those two players were taking steroids during the World Series run in 2003.

So, while only five names have been made public, the rest of the list is hidden away with names leaked every few months. I'm sure that's great for the game (sarcasm folks, sarcasm). Bud Selig and the union bear responsibility for this situation - as do the players themselves, who allowed this situation to persist.

What this Times report does provide that is most curious is a statement regarding Barry Bonds:
Five others have been tied to positive tests from that year: Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez, Sammy Sosa, Jason Grimsley and David Segui. Bonds, baseball’s career home runs leader, was not on the original list, although federal agents seized his 2003 sample and had it retested. Those results showed the presence of steroids, according to court documents.
