Time Magazine is pushing the meme that Sadr won the latest showdown with the Iraqi government. Not even the New York Times is swallowing that nonsense this time around.
The Times is reporting on the successful reintegration of Basra into the Iraqi polity, and the Iraqi military's ongoing operations to provide security in the city now that Sadr's minions have been disarmed and rid from the streets. Life in Basra has become normal - businesses operating without fear of the goon squads and fighting that marked Sadr's tenure as leading thug.
UPDATE 5/13/2008:
Hot Air and Ace both note that Time magazine has gone out on a limb that even the New York Times wont to declare Sadr the winner of the latest confrontation with the Maliki government.
