Disconnected From Reality

The Egyptian government is busy complaining that the Israeli plans to build housing in Jerusalem is an obstacle to peace with the Palestinians, all the while ignoring the incessant terrorist attacks - there were five more kassam rockets fired at Israel today and three mortars were also fired.

It's amazing the level of myopia encouraged by diplomats around the world, including Israeli officials who do little to press their nation's best interests. Israel has no reason to engage in dialogue with terrorist organizations, let alone prop them up as they've done with Fatah, and yet they do because they feel that the alternative is a more dangerous terrorist group operating out of the very territories from which Israel has vacated.

Egypt is busy complaining about Israel's negotiating stance, but Israel has good reason to complain about Egypt's failure to control the Gaza/Egypt border. Hamas has been operating smuggling tunnels across the Philadelphi corridor, enabling the terrorist group to regroup and rearm. Egypt has looked the other way and has not cracked down along the border, and that has serious consequences for the Israeli security situation.

Egyptian authorities say they're doing all that they can and will make a big show out of big busts like this one, but for every bust, there are dozens more smugglers who are busy sending explosives and materials into Gaza for use in the war against Israel.

Meanwhile, Fatah al Islam, the terrorist group that caused so much grief in Lebanon, appears to be active in Gaza. This particular terrorist group has links to al Qaeda, and Gaza is the perfect incubator for Islamist terrorist groups because of Hamas' dominion.

The West Bank also has a terrorist group infestation, despite claims (more like wishful thinking) that the PA would control and patrol those areas. Shechem is the center of these terrorist activities, despite PA patrols.

UPDATE:
Hey, Abbas. Go pound sand. You want a settlement freeze? Tough.

Stop the frickin' terrorists firing rockets at Israel. Stop the incessant insanity that is Palestinian media that seeks Israel's destruction on a daily basis.

Oh, and try adhering to the Oslo obligations. It's been more than 10 years and Fatah (under your terror master Yasir Arafat and now Abbas) still haven't fulfilled one iota of Palestinian obligations.

Get back to me when you do. Then we can talk about Israeli construction projects in Israel.

Nine more kassams hit Sderot. This time, one woman was treated for shock.

Yet, we get to hear about Abbas complaining about Israel's housing projects for Jerusalem? That's what the media focuses on. The Palestinian war against Israel goes unremarked upon, except when Israel carries out raids against the very terrorists who seek to kill Israelis. When Israel does carry out the raids, the media provides no context and makes it appear as though Israel is the aggressor, and not acting out of self defense. Eliminating the terrorist threat is not an impediment to peace - it is a necessary precondition and the Israelis are still struggling to come to grips with that undeniable fact.
