CAIR's (Council of American Islamic Relations)last three "action alerts" all concern radio talk show host Michael Savage and a push to get him taken off the air. Whether you love Savage or hate him, this can not go unnoticed. This group with blatant and documented terror ties can not cloak the blatant goal to squash free speech.
Their main problem with Savage? This rant:
""I'm not gonna put my wife in a hijab. And I'm not gonna put my daughter in a burqa. And I'm not gettin on my all-fours and braying to Mecca. And you could drop dead if you don't like it. You can shove it up your pipe. I don't wanna hear anymore about Islam. I don't wanna hear one more word about Islam. Take your religion and shove it up your behind. I'm sick of you."
"What kind of religion is this? What kind of world are you living in when you let them in here with that throwback document in their hand, which is a book of hate. Don't tell me I need reeducation. They need deportation. I don't need reeducation. Deportation, not reeducation. You can take C-A-I-R and throw 'em out of my country. I'd raise the American flag and I'd get out my trumpet if you did it. Without due process. You can take your due process and shove it."
"What sane nation that worships the U.S. constitution, which is the greatest document of freedom ever written, would bring in people who worship a book that tells them the exact opposite. Make no mistake about it, the Quran is not a document of freedom. The Quran is a document of slavery and chattel. It teaches you that you are a slave."
This isn't "hate speech", this is Savage's opinion. An opinion that tons of American's agree with. Islam is indeed an antiquated (never mind false) religion that does degrade women and discourages democracy and freedom. Those statements can be supported with the Qu'ran. Does CAIR forget Muslims in the ME protesting the election in Iraq and Afghanistan claiming that democracy was a direct affront to Allah and Islam?!!? Do they forget Mohammad told Islamic fathers not to "let their daughters have their first blood in their houses"? Do they think that Sharia law evolved from a document like our constitution? They can play the selective memory game all they want, but actions speak volumes.
One thing that bothers me about people is that they only seem to care about causes that directly effect them in the here and now. No one cared about Perez Hilton's lawsuit because they don't like him --well if he got held accountable for using pics on line it would effect all Bloggers. People might read this and think "who cares, I hate Savage anyway." Not the point people. It can't be free speech unless you don't agree or free speech until you hurt someone's wittle feelings. No. CAIR WILL NOT tell me what or whom I can or can't listen to. If they want to live in a society like that...then I agree with Savage...deport them from whence they came.
Its been said again and again, CAIR and Islam cannot stand criticism. Anyone who speaks out against them are chided as racist or Islamophobic. Worse, extreme criticism is met with death threats and often, death.
Stifiling free speach, no matter who the speach is from or to whom its directed, is a slipery slope. What ever happened to 'I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend your right to say it'?
CAIR's bully pulpit techniques must stop. CAIR's terrorist activities must stop -- but thats a post for a different day.
