Darfur: It's About The Oil

Lou Minatti sums up perfectly how and why there has been absolutely no action at the UN to deal with the Darfur genocide and ongoing violence in Sudan.

It is about the oil.

Only that it's the countries who have contracts to purchase and prospect for oil in the region that refuse to let the US, UK, or the UN or AU deal with the problem effectively. That's right - it's all about the oil for Russia, China, and France. They're the ones who have the cozy deals with Khartoum to obtain oil and they're the ones refusing to permit the US or UK (or anyone else for that matter) to send in forces to stop the ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing.
