A Terror Plot Grows in Norman, Oklahoma

Mark Tapscott summarizes the Hinrichs bombing incident and the Justice Department investigation.

I have to wonder why the media seems to be trying to keep potential links to other terrorist acts in the past separate from Hinrichs' bombing. The Hinrichs bomb was apparently made with TATP, which is also called the Mother of Satan because of its very unstable nature. However, media reports say that the explosive was made of hydrogen peroxide. Now, while TATP is made using hydrogen peroxide, it is not the only ingredient.

Why would the media only seem to focus on the hydrogen peroxide, and not the finished explosive (whose other ingredients include some kind of strong acid and acetone) unless they don't want people to make the connection between other terror activities and this one?

The most likely explanation is that the media might not want to make the direct link and state what explosive was used because it would highlight the link to Islamic terrorism. Many Islamic terror attacks were conducted using TATP, including Shoe Bomber Richard Reid's thwarted plane attack, numerous bombings in Iraq, and the 7/7 bombings in the London Subway System.

UPDATE:
As noted in my comments, Overnight AM has some interesting comments about the Hinrichs investigation and whether he tried obtaining ammonium nitrate at any other location in the OKC area. Things definitely still aren't adding up here, but with the limited information we have available, that's to be expected. What isn't expected is the complete and utter disinterest by the national media.

After all, you would hope that the media would want to cover a story about a suicide bomber blowing themselves up outside a major college football game.

UPDATE:
Rusty of the Jawa Report notes that a review of security tapes has revealed that Hinrichs did not appear to seek entrance to the football game prior to blowing himself up on the park bench near the stadium. As I note in his comments section, I don't think this is necessarily dispositive because he could have been waiting for a more opportune time to strike - after the game let out. Sitting on the bench let his potential victims come to him, which considering the unpredictable nature of TATP would be a reasonable step to make sure that the explosive doesn't blow up prematurely.
