New York Finally Moving To No-Fault Divorce

New York is about to make divorces a whole lot easier, and I think this is a good thing because it is about to provide for no-fault divorces. New York was one of the last holdouts on no-fault divorces. The state had required to provide grounds for divorce such as adultery, and required couples to separate for a 1-year period prior to the divorce.

The Legislature passed the bill in overwhelming fashion, and Gov. Paterson looks like he'll sign the bill even as he's been busy vetoing legislative pork items added to an already bloated budget.

Not everyone is happy with this move. The Catholic Council is opposed, claiming that it would be easier to get a divorce than to get out of a wireless phone contract (no - there's no hyperbole there, not at all). What I don't get is why the National Organization of Women's New York chapter opposes this since it makes it easier for women to get out of bad marriage situations

Tiger Woods Marriage Ends With $750 Million Settlement

$750 million. That's how much Tiger Woods is allegedly shelling out to Elin Nordegren in exchange for her silence. Elin also gets physical custody of the couple's two kids (Tiger retains legal custody - meaning he gets some say in how they are brought up).
Tiger Woods is banned from letting girlfriends near his kids in a divorce deal netting his ex a record $750 million settlement, The Sun reported Wednesday.

The golfer agreed to keep single women away from daughter Sam, three, and son Charlie, one.

He can bring a new flame into their lives only if he marries her. In return, former wife Elin Nordegren ,30, gets the biggest payout ever seen in a celebrity divorce.

But she can never publicly speak out over his alleged flings with socialite Rachel Uchitel, reality star Jaimee Grubbs, porn queen Joslyn James and up to 17 others.

The Obligatory Al Gore Adultery Posting

Last week, it was announced that Al and Tipper Gore were divorcing after being together for more than 30 years. At the time, they were sending out statements that the divorce was amicable, but now we hear that Al was apparently cheating on Tipper, with none other than Larry David's ex-wife.

Consider this a show about nothing.

Was this affair while he was in office, or after he left?

If it was after he left office, huge yawn. People cheat on their spouses all the time.

If it was in office, did it interfere with his official duties? If it didn't, then a big yawn. Politicians cheat on spouses all the time.

If it did interfere with his official duties, then I guess we'd have to know what was going on and all that.

As it turns out, Star Magazine claims it was well after he left office, which means that I just can't get worked up about this.Laurie David angrily denies the claims.

In any event, it isn't like I was using him as my role model. Besides, I'm far more green than he is.
