The Looming Gaza Crisis

It was only a matter of time before Hamas decided that the hudna was no longer necessary. The firing of more than 70 kassams and mortars over the past two days shows that they're more than ready to resume their war against Israel.

Israel, for its part, is still engaging in half measures, and is still providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinians living in Gaza and ignoring the crisis in the Israeli towns that have been repeatedly bombarded by the terrorists operating in Gaza. That's simply unconscionable, and the Israeli government has been feckless in its handling of the situation in Gaza and along its border.

Meanwhile, Egypt is sending more troops to reinforce its border with Gaza, seeking to prevent a repeat of the last major Hamas war; when Hamas terrorists invaded the Sinai after breaching the border fence at multiple points with explosives after cutting the steel fence.

Expect many more kassam and mortar attacks as Hamas ratchets up the rhetoric.

Israel will eventually go into Gaza in a limited operation to go after Hamas terrorists, and there will be more attacks. Hamas will attempt suicide bombing attacks against the IDF and even attempt attacks against the border crossings and infiltrations. Israel's political leaders have squandered Israel's tactical and strategic advantages in the name of "peace" - conceding the right to defend itself against attacks, with getting nothing in return except stronger enemies more convinced that they will be able to outlast Israel's political will to exist.

The terrorists must be disabused from that notion, and warning that an Israeli operation will occur in Gaza is not the way to do it. That's telegraphing the intentions and gives Hamas plenty of time to prepare a nasty welcome for the Israeli forces that may enter Gaza. Why telegraph Israel's next move? Israel must take the action it needs to defend itself from these terrorists who engage in war against Israel. It has not, hoping to curry favor with the international community that always manages to side with the terrorists and whose media outlets stream an incessant barrage of anti-Israel propaganda.

UPDATE:
The terrorists have been busy again. They fired off yet more kassams at Israel, except one fell short. It killed two Palestinian girls. Of course, Hamas couldn't care about that, and they fully expect the media to cover for them. These two girls will be treated as martyrs for the cause, and Palestinians will find a way to blame Israel for their deaths.

The two girls will be treated as martyrs for the cause, rather than victims of their coreligionists whose need to draw Israeli blood is a deathwish sought by Palestinians.

UPDATE:
AP is busy showing the love for the terrorists. They've got the aptly named Hatem Moussa busy taking glamour shots of Hamas terrorists posing with their weapons even as their fellow terrorists are busy murdering Palestinians and hoping to kill Israelis.
