Hamas Calls For Jihad To Recover Jerusalem

For Hamas, there is no such thing as a two-state solution. It's all about the one-state solution - the elimination of Israel. Hamas' terror masters have once again reiterated their longstanding goal - to capture Jerusalem. Not through diplomacy and negotiation, but through jihad (holy war).
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said Wednesday that the Islamist group will not accept any future peace agreement that does not include the return of Jerusalem and the Jordan Valley to Palestinians hands and the return of Palestinian refugees to their homes in Israel.

Speaking at a ceremony marking 39 years since the fire at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem's Old City, Haniyeh said "no one can cede Jerusalem, the city from which the Prophet Muhammad ascended to the heavens.

"Jerusalem will be retrieved to the Palestinians not through negotiations or by hugging and kissing the enemy, but by way of jihad, blood, shahids and resistance. With Allah's help, Jerusalem will be returned," he said.
The diplomats who keep pushing a peace process that the Palestinians do not want keep ignoring this basic and inalienable fact. Hamas controls Gaza and would like to control the West Bank. They would control the West Bank but for Fatah being propped up by the US, Israel and the West as a bulwark against the Islamists of Hamas despite the fact that Fatah also seeks nothing less than Israel's destruction.

And the Palestinians are using Jerusalem as a base of operations for terror attacks because the city is more open - with fewer checkpoints - than elsewhere. It also provides a greater opportunity for high profile attacks.

Ignore Hamas' words at your own peril. They've made their intentions crystal clear. And yet Israel's leadership, including PM Olmert, continue to offer up revolving door injustice by engaging in prisoner releases as "confidence building measures." The only things that are being built are the Palestinian hopes that they will outlast the Israelis and watch as a Palestinian flag is planted on the heart of Israel.
