First, you get reports that Israel is considering major operations against Hamas and the terrorists in Gaza. Israel rules out a military operation against Hamas in Gaza for the time being.
Right.
Good show.
The terrorists can continue their bombing campaign against Southern Israel and Israel's leadership thinks that taking the fight to the terrorist infrastructure in its entirety is not quite appropriate at this time. How many more Israelis have to die or be injured before Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and his cronies take action? They're engaging in limited airstrikes against terror cells after they fire on Israelis, but that does little to prevent attacks. Hamas and the other terrorist groups operate with impunity in Gaza and readily engage in attacks on Israel at their earliest convenience. Still more mortar attacks on Israel were reported today. Is MSNBC going to call this a sudden spurt of violence, or is MSNBC simply not paying attention until Israel kills terrorists who have already fired on Israel? I think it's the latter.
The Knesset might call for new elections next week, but I'm not convinced they'll actually go through with it.
Olmert has survived four prior attempts to dissolve the government. That's despite his failures to deal with the Gaza rocket war, the Hizbullah war and the Winograd Commission findings, to say nothing of his latest legal troubles. He makes John Gotti look like he's wrapped in molasses (Gotti's nickname was the Teflon Don for his ability to avoid criminal charges).
