Limping Back To Manhattan?

The USS Intrepid is supposed to be back at its berth at Pier 86 on the West Side of Manhattan well in advance of Veterans' Day, but the behind the scenes action suggests that things aren't going nearly as well as hoped.

Unforeseen problems, increased costs, and an ambitious schedule are putting the finances of the Intrepid Museum in jeopardy. There are also concerns that the museum will not be ready in time, and that the museum's Concorde might not return because of the $250,000 needed to transfer it back to Manhattan from its temporary home at Floyd Bennett Field.

Meanwhile, a countdown clock is ticking away til the grand ship returns to her berth on the West Side.

Here's hoping that she makes it on time.
