Terrorists Continue War Against Israel

Not only have 12 mortars slammed into Israel from Gaza today, but we learn the folly of the revolving door diplomatic efforts of the Olmert government to appease the Fatah thugs as a measure of goodwill.

One of the two men arrested for a plot to poison restaurant goers in Ramat Gan was released under Prime Minister Olmert's latest prisoner release.
The terrorist cell that planned to poison an Israeli restaurant this month was led by jihadists who were recently granted amnesty by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, WND has learned.

The pardoned terrorists, members of Fatah's Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, were directly involved in orchestrating the foiled attack, according to defense sources. They were granted amnesty in October as a stated Israeli gesture to help bolster Palestinian Authority President and Fatah Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.

The terrorists were given amnesty on condition they disarm, refrain from attacks and spend three months in PA detention facilities and another three months confined to Nablus, the northern West Bank city in which they reside.
How many Israelis have to die because the Israeli government remains convinced that amnesty and prisoner releases for Fatah's benefit will win converts among jihadis and avowed terrorists dedicated to Israel's destruction?

This should be a warning against any further prisoner releases or prisoner swaps. The terrorists will lie and say anything to get their people out of Israeli jails, and those prisoners in Israeli jails will and and do anything to get released, including lying about what they intend on doing after being released.

Fatah remains dedicated to Israel's destruction just as surely as Hamas does. Fatah has opted for a longer term plan, killing Israel by the thousands of papercuts and slow bleed of forcing Israel to make concession after concession with nothing in return. Hamas, by contrast, seeks open war with Israel and engages in rounds of violence interrupted by hudnas that benefit only the terrorists because it enables them to regroup and rearm.

Meanwhile, Israel remains on alert for a possible breakout from Gaza by way of Egypt or directly from Gaza. Defense Minister Ehud Barak notes that the problems in Gaza stem from their decision to elect Hamas. Of course, the Palestinians will never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity and will not see the folly of their actions and instead whine and seethe further over their plight, blaming Israel every step of the way.

With former President Jimmy Carter touring the region and with the trip to meet Hamas leader Khalid Meshaal still on the agenda, it appears that Carter wanted to line up meetings with other terrorist groups as well. Feelers were put out to Islamic Jihad, but their leaders refused to go along, claiming that Carter was pushing an American/Israeli agenda. The only agenda that Carter is pushing these days, is his own deluded version of diplomacy that bears little resemblance to the facts on the ground. Even as the meeting with Meshaal is upcoming, Carter is planning on meeting with other members of Hamas in Ramallah.
Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said he'll meet with a Hamas leader at a West Bank reception Tuesday, a sign he has not been cowed by criticism of his plans to meet with the militant Palestinian group.

During his time in Ramallah on Tuesday, the former U.S. president visited the grave of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, where he laid a wreath.

Carter added that he sought permission to enter the Islamist-ruled Gaza Strip as well but was turned down. Carter did not single out Israel by name for having turned down his request to visit Gaza however all of the border crossings between Israel and Gaza are controlled by Israel.

Nasser al-Shaer has been invited to a reception in the West Bank town of Ramallah along with other prominent Palestinians, officials close to Hamas said Tuesday.
He doesn't care what people think about his inanities, and despite his claims that he's simply on a fact-finding mission, the truth is that he is engaging in diplomacy by talking with all those terrorists and pushing an agenda of appeasement.

Yet another affront has to do with the fact that Carter laid a wreath at the grave of PLO terrorist Yasir Arafat, whose bloody hands and orders resulted in the deaths of thousands, including many Americans.
Palestinian honour guards carry a wreath offered by former US president Jimmy Carter (R) to be placed in late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's grave at the Palestinian Authority headquarters in the West Bank city of Ramallah, on April 15, 2008. Carter was due to meet Palestinian officials, diplomats and local people as part of his visit to Ramallah. Sources hinted that Hamas former vice prime minister Nasser Dien Al-shaer will be among them. AFP PHOTO/ABBAS MOMANI (Photo credit should read ABBAS MOMANI/AFP/Getty Images)

He also speaks of how Israel has confiscated lands from Palestinians, but he says nothing of the confiscations of land by Arab countries of Jewish property owners following Israel's creation. Everything is a one-way problem for Carter, and all could be solved if we get over Israel's intransigence. Of course, that has to do with Israel's inalienable and undeniable right to exist, so Carter again tries to cut away at the margins and panders to the Palestinians with every breath uttered.

UPDATE:
Carl in Jerusalem and Hot Air both note the photos and the decrepit moral standing of Carter paying tribute to Arafat. This was not some precondition of meeting with Palestinian leaders, but something that Carter sought to do on his own accord.
