The Latest New Orleans Kerfuffle

This time, it's because a Times Picayune photographer took a less than flattering photo of New Orleans Mayor Ray "Whiplash" Nagin as he was busy waving a semi-automatic gun around at a press conference, and may have looked like he was taking aim at Police Superintendent Warren Riley.

Video of the event is here. The Times Picayune has clarified its caption associated with the photo, after Mayor Nagin issued a press release denouncing the original photo and how it was received by the press and public.

I have little use for Ray Nagin and his ongoing failures to deal with the deep and pervasive problems in New Orleans, many of which were self-inflicted by Nagin himself (reversing decisions and hence earning the nickname Whiplash), along with the slow pace of the cleanup and rebuilding of the affected areas of the city.

If you want a truly damning photo, this is it. You do remember the Mayor Nagin Memorial Motor Pool, don't you? Here's a refresher:

That one photo tells you all you need to know about this clown. He failed his city and the citizens he's supposed to represent. He gets to clown around with the police department and get photo ops showing him holding firearms purchased to help rebuild the police department that failed the city as well.
