Gore got his Nobel Prize and was again warning of doom and gloom if we don't take action now.
Right.
So, how was that Bali conference where 10,000 environmentalists descended on one of the most remote cities in the world to confer on a problem that they all claim was imminent, and yet they had no problem jetting around the world to go in person - because teleconferencing simply wouldn't do and they had to tackle the problem headlong and directly - by punting the problem to the next conference to be held next year.
How exactly is Gore himself reducing his own emissions? Vowing to fly any less? Cut back on his mansion expenditures? The SUVs? Cars? Gulfstream IVs? No. He went to Oslo to receive the Nobel Prize directly. No teleconferencing for him. He's far too important to take his own advice and reduce his emissions. He simply wants everyone else to reduce theirs.
He's simply not going to give up his lifestyle that's he's richly accustomed to because he's more interested in getting his cut from the greenish movement than actually saving anything.
Consider that Al Gore was Vice President of the United States for eight years - from 1993 to January 2001. In that time, the Clinton Administration rejected Kyoto. The Clinton Administration did little to stem the nation's emissions, except that the US actually reduced its emissions since Kyoto was enacted by other countries even as those other nations have not met any of the Kyoto protocols.
Where exactly was Al Gore during the 1990s on climate change? Missing in action.
The fact is that the environmentalist movement has gone off the rails and now urges abortions, the cessation of having children, and other outlandish measures, not to mention taking the bejeebus out of everyone to pay for carbon emissions. It's that latter part that really is driving the global warming crowd. Follow the money.
It's what Al Gore did.
I believe the proper term is charlatan (well, the polite term at least).
UPDATE:
Gore is also joining the Bali Conference in progress. How many tons of COx are being emitted by the planes whisking him off to the conference, and no matter how many indulgences and carbon trading credits he buys, it's not going to change the fact that he's actually polluting the environment everywhere he goes.
