Parallel Lives

Robert Mugabe. Meet [T]hugo Chavez. These two dictators and thugs have been doing their damnedest to run their respective countries into the ground and ruin the lives of all those who oppose their autocratic and totalitarian regimes.

Mugabe's history is one long roll call of viciousness and violence.

So is Chavez's.

The parallels are astounding, as are the apologists.

Mugabe has a few years on Chavez, so we know what Chavez will end up doing to Venezuela in a few years when given the chance. Just remember that Zimbabwe was once the breadbasket of Africa and completely self-sufficient for food. Now, it must rely on international aid to keep its citizens from starving. Zimbabwe's rate of inflation is off the charts, and Venezuela is repeating the same kind of economic nonsense typical of socialists who think that if they try to be more pure in their socialism, they'll somehow be more successful.

The only thing these regimes are good at is running a body count.
