Japan Hit By Major Earthquakes

While it was reported last night that there was a major 6.7 quake that hit northern Japan, damage reports are still coming in. It now turns out that there was a leak of radioactive water at a major nuclear power plant near the quake epicenter in addition to a fire at the facility. At least seven were killed in the quake and hundreds were injured. Buildings and bridges suffered damage throughout the region.

There had been a concern about tsunami last night, but reports indicated that the resultant tsunami was only about 20 inches high.

Well, that was just the prelude as a second stronger quake hit the same region. This quake measured 6.8.

No doubt that this latest quake will cause additional damage, and bring down those structures already damaged by the first quake. Another concern will be ongoing aftershocks.
