Going wobbly is more like it. This is almost a replay of the very problems that got Israel into so much trouble last year when dealing with Hizbullah. It's called indecision. Olmert cannot make a decision and that fatal flaw has undermined Israeli national security at a time when it doesn't have much room for error.
Nations need leaders who are decisive and will stick with a policy, especially when in a war. If you are indecisive, your enemies will exploit the indecision and press home their advantages. This is the way of warfare from ancient times to the present. Sun Tzu chronicled the art of warfare and diplomacy, and yet Olmert and his Defense Minister Peretz ignored the basic tenets of warfare and how to fight a war.
The Knesset appears to have had enough with Olmert and his own party is abandoning him as well. That means it is only a matter of time before he's forced to resign and/or call for new elections.
Still, there are those who think that Olmert deserves an honorable out - to resign in a matter of months. Sorry, but the threats to Israel are too dire to allow an inept prime minister and his cabinet remain in charge, especially as Hizbullah is once again preparing for conflict along the North and Hamas and Fatah are preparing for conflict from Gaza using the Hizbullah playbook.
