How is it that a major European blackout gets such little coverage here in the US? After all, the US went through a major blackout only a few years ago (August 2003), and we were warned that the power grid needed significant upgrades and improvements.
Well, it appears that the problems aren't confined to the US. Europe has those problems too. Like in France, where five million went without power as the first major cold snap hit the Continent. The problems appear to have originated on the French/German border (go figure).
Blackouts and power distribution problems were felt in Spain, France, Germany, and Belgium. It appears that the power distribution companies came quite close to having a major disaster on their hands.
Technorati: blackout, europe, european blackout, france, germany.
