Twenty Three Years And Still Awaiting A Reckoning

On October 23, 1983, Hizbullah, the Islamic terrorist group, conducted two suicide bombings within a matter of minutes of each other. As the dust settled, the Marine Barracks were decimated and 241 US Marines, soldiers, and sailors were dead. 58 French soldiers were also killed.

Hizbullah has never been held accountable for their heinous actions against the US and French peacekeepers who were in Lebanon to try and restore peace to a country wracked by civil war, fighting between Israel and the PLO, and Syrian machinations.

The US withdrawal was a low point of the Reagan Administration, as the Marines never did get to impose their firepower on the terrorists who killed so many of their brothers-in-arms.

Until 9/11, Hizbullah had more US blood on its hands than any other Islamic terror group. Hizbullah still poses a mortal threat to US forces, especially as it acts as a proxy for Iran and that state backing is a serious threat to US interests in the Middle East and beyond.

Never forget.
