One of the Commissioners behind the design actually wanted to memorialize the 19 hijackers who murdered nearly 3,000 people on 9/11/2001. That's right folks. He saw no problem memorializing the 19 murderers because he thought their grievances were perfectly acceptable and appropriate. Allah summarizes thusly:
Why wouldn’t they? There are no enemies in their cosmology (except Bush). Violence itself is the enemy.Ace has more. The Arizona Governor must be held accountable for this mess as she let this monstrosity get built in the first place.
Which means the hijackers are victims too.
Oh, and we also sort of deserved it because of our “total support of Israel.” And the Afghan civilians who were accidentally killed in a bombing run ten months later belong on the memorial because they’re all “part of the tragedy of war, terrorism, hatred, [and] mistrust of everyone else.”
UPDATE:
Once again, we see good reason why the memorial design process at Ground Zero needs to be scrutinized on a regular basis. It was that kind of scrutiny that got the IFC and The Drawing Center ejected from the Ground Zero plans, and it will hopefully prevent other memorial sites from being turned into politically correct statements that do nothing to convey the horror inflicted on this nation by Islamic terrorists who murdered nearly 3,000 people, and had sought to kill a hundred thousand more.
The commissioner involved in this process, Paul Eppinger, was interviewed by FoxNews, and the resulting interview contained this gem:
Fox interviewer: "Another [inscription]: 'Middle East Violence Motivates Attacks in U.S.' We asked Memorial commissioner Paul Eppinger to explain."So, Eppinger blames the Jews for 9/11. How utterly quaint. It's not the fault of the nihlistic jihadis who have repeatedly stated for anyone who cares to listen that they want everyone to submit to their brand of Islam or face the consequences - death and misery, but Eppinger faults the Jews who get support from the big, bad United States, and who simply want to get on with their lives in Israel without worrying about Palestinian suicide bombers and the Arab neighbors who have fostered a culture of violence and destruction to mask their own cultural and political failures.
Eppinger: "For me, what it means is that, um, our foreign policy for years has focused on total support of Israel."
Fox interviewer: "What does that have to do with 9/11?"
Eppinger: "I think that promoted the, the, uh, the violence."
And the Left sees nothing wrong with this. They have no problems with this because they don't recognize the difference between good and evil - unless you're equating President Bush with evil.
Arizona officials say there will be no changes to the memorial despite the fact that they announced a review.
