The New York Times rightly highlights the horrendous working conditions for millions of children living in Africa. Many are treated essentially as slaves, often drawing little or no salaries for their backbreaking work. It's a horrible situation, and little has been done about it for years on end. The Times should be proud of this particular article.
And yet, why not highlight the fact that Africa is rife with child soldiers and that situation isn't confined to Africa but the Middle East as well. We regularly see children being placed in warzones with the express purpose of being cannon fodder by being caught in the crossfire between Palestinian terrorists or even Hizbullah and Israelis defending themselves from the acts of those terrorists. Charles at LGF has an ongoing feature on Palestinian child abuse, which includes a series of photos showing the extent of depravity of Palestinian society in perpetuating the conditions whereby Palestinian children are seen as being more valuable as corpses than growing up to be adults who can contribute to a vibrant society.
