The Battle For Ground Zero, Part 153

The NYT editorial page is befuddled over the furor behind how the memorial is considering arranging the names in the 9/11 memorial. It then decides that the best way to honor the memories of those who were murdered by the Islamic terrorists on 9/11 is to do so individually - in essence backing the LMDC plan.

The editorial suggests that the 9/11 memorial is taking a page from the Maya Lin design for the Vietnam Veteran's memorial which listed the names based on the date the soldiers, Marines, or sailors died. That simply isn't possible here, so one is left trying to consider either a completely random grouping, alphabetical ordering, or by company/affiliation.

Gothamist notes that tracking the rebuilding efforts in Lower Manhattan will be much easier now that a new website was put together. Well, that will make my job much easier, although the progress right now revolves around the bargaining table as the union representing crane workers are on strike. That's pretty much shut down construction projects around the city, not just at Ground Zero.
