This Day In History

Today's date should ring some bells, even for those folks who are too young to remember the events of which I speak from personal experience. I imagine that they still teach 20th Century History in school these days.

I'm talking about the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in the early morning hours of December 7, 1941.

Thankfully, more than a few folks know what today means: The Donovan, Bubbleheads, bRight and Early, Michelle Malkin, and many many others.

And I'd rather not think about what would happen if Pearl Harbor happened today (that's sarcasm folks - unfortunately, it's too close to the truth). [updated 12/7/2006 - link deleted - spamalot]

UPDATE:
Enlighten NJ has a tribute, and links to a National Geographic special on Pearl Harbor. LaShawn Barber, Scared Monkeys, and Mark in Mexico also comments.

UPDATE:
An interesting photographic history can be found here. The official Navy website is here.
