Hinrichs Bombing: Facts and Suppositions

This posting recaps what we know about the Hinrichs bombing, and what we don't know.

What we don't know? Why Hinrichs blew himself up in the manner he did, why he chose the location he did, and whether this was politically or religiously motivated. Those questions simply haven't been answered by the evidence known thus far, nor has the FBI, JTTF, or local law enforcement provided answers to those questions other than that they just don't know. They can say that they're leaning one way or another, but that's not a definitive answer. It's just an answer that leads to more questions than answers.

Now, it's completely possible that we will never know what happened, and that there will never be any conclusive evidence one way or another on whether Hinrichs was politically or religiously motivated to blow himself up on a park bench outside the OU football stadium packed with 84,000 fans. However, the least we can do is make sure that all avenues of investigation are fully explored.
