Sevan Flew The Coop, Permanently?

The lawyer for the disgraced former head of the U.N. oil-for-food program hinted yesterday his client may have left the United States for good — deepening suspicion among investigators that Benon Sevan fled to avoid prosecution.
In a statement e-mailed to The Post, Eric Lewis said his client has returned to Cyprus "for a religious rite on his aunt's death."

"As he is now retired from the U.N., Cyprus is his place of residence and not New York," Lewis said.
The aunt is the one who Sevan claims provided him with the hundreds of thousands of dollars that worked their way into his accounts, not UNSCAM monies. The aunt reportedly died after falling down an elevator shaft.

Cyprus does not have an extradition treaty with the US. Good luck getting Sevan to be held accountable for his actions, though I have an idea.

Instead of extraditing him to the US, have the Iraqis do it. It was their country that was hosed by UNSCAMmers, and Sevan was in charge of the program while billions were siphoned off in kickbacks, graft, and buyoffs.
