Gaza Is Now Judenrein

After five days of Israelis pulling Israelis from their homes in Gaza, there are no more Jews living in Gaza. It is a sad day indeed for those Israelis who were displaced in order to ease the burden on the Israeli military and strengthen the Israeli defenses against terrorism originating in Gaza.

Consider this ethnic cleansing in reverse. It is Israelis who are uprooting Israelis from Gaza in order to secure Israel's future.

Many people saw those Jews living in Gaza were seen as an obstacle to peace. Now, there are no Jews there. Not a single Jew remains.

I don't think for one moment that it will make peace any more likely, not when the Palestinians have shown themselves to be completely unwilling to peacefully coexist with the Israelis. However, Israel will have the upper hand to deal with whatever violence emenates from Gaza [though that will last only as long as the first reprisal strike by Israel].

How did the evacuation go over in Arab circles? The usual suspects in terror circles called it a great victory and consider the next step the destruction of Israel proper, and capturing Jerusalem as their own capital. Not exactly the words of a group seeking peaceful coexistence.
