The Downward Spiral Continues

This is a woman in need of serious medical attention. Britney Spears is a mess, physically, emotionally, and medically. In the latest incident, she was taken to a hospital by ambulance for yet another medical evaluation hold. That's her second one in about two weeks.
A Los Angeles police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the matter, said the 26-year-old pop star was being taken to "get help" but did not give the ambulance's destination. The Los Angeles Times, citing unidentified authorities, said Spears was taken to UCLA Medical Center to be placed on a "mental evaluation hold." Center spokesman Mark Wheeler declined to comment to The Associated Press, citing privacy laws.

Spears' police escort included motorcycles, two cruisers, and two helicopters.

On Jan. 3, police were called to her home when she refused to return her two young sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, to ex-husband Kevin Federline, who has custody.

Officers had paramedics haul Spears to a hospital for undisclosed reasons. She was released after a day and a half in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Police also went to the home Monday night after someone reported a swarm of paparazzi trespassing in the singer's gated community. When officers arrived, they didn't see anyone trespassing, police said, but citations were issued for several illegally parked cars.
Her bizarre antics have cost her custody of her two children. Kevin Federline, himself no paragon of virtue, comes off looking like a saint in comparison to Spears. What is in the best interests of the children? To be with someone who isn't a threat to the children or themselves, and right now, it appears that Spears isn't that person. Perhaps if she receives serious and ongoing medical treatment, she may one day regain custody of her children, but until that time, I don't see it happening.

It's tragic; most of all for her two children.

Padded Room Time For Britney?

The sad spectacle that is the life of Britney Spears took yet another turn yesterday, as police were called to the family compound after Spears refused to let ex-husband Kevin Federline have custody of their two children as per their custody deal.

On top of that, she was taken from the scene on a stretcher after the three hour ordeal. TMZ reported that she was taken to the hospital for a medical hold - to evaluate her mental condition.

MSNBC has more, including the following:
Spears is on an involuntary psychiatric hold, also known as a section 5150 hold.

According to the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, a 5150 is defined as, “a means by which someone who is in serious need of mental health treatment can be transported to a designated psychiatric inpatient facility for evaluation and treatment for up to 72 hours against their will. If the facility feels that further treatment is indicated, the person can be held involuntarily for additional lengths of time providing he or she meets the legal criteria and is unwilling or unable to remain voluntarily.”
Spears odd behavior goes back several years now, and it is no laughing matter as she may be a threat to herself and her children.

Sad.

The Lost Girls

Forget about the lost boys. These gals have definitely lost their way and a tragic outcome isn't all that far fetched. All are (in)famous and have repeatedly graced the covers of magazines and tabloids because of who they are or what they may have done some time ago. However, they're just as likely to be found on a crime blotter or heading to rehab than actually producing something of worth as of late:

Britney Spears: She chopped off her hair, has been in and out of rehab and has been trying to regain her mojo by performing at some small clubs. She's finally made Kevin Federline appear to be the responsible one in that "relationship."

Lindsay Lohan: Back in rehab? She was involved in a weekend car crash, requiring medical attention at a California hospital. She was charged with DUI and is lucky that no one was seriously injured or killed because of her partying ways. Her lawyer chauffeured her to the rehab center. Good luck with that.

Nicole Richie: She's suffering from anorexia, but that isn't stopping her from continuing her downward spiral that puts her life in danger every day that she engages in the binge and purge. Family intervention hasn't worked in the past, and unless she gets serious help, she's running the risk of ruining her health.

And as a reminder that someone on the seemingly straight and narrow can be cast into a hellish scenario with a split second decision, we have Brandy: She's currently being sued (and countersuing) over a deadly car crash and liability:
The crash killed Awatef Aboudihaj, 38, of Los Angeles. Her husband has sued both Brandy and Ham for reckless driving. Aboudihaj's parents and her two children also have separate suits pending against Brandy.

The city attorney's office is still deciding whether to charge Brandy with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, spokesman Frank Mateljan said Tuesday.

If charged and convicted, she could face up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Then, there's Misha Barton: Checked herself out of a hospital after being admitted for an adverse reaction to medication. While that's usually a cover story for a drug overdose, there's evidence that she was taking medication for a respiratory condition , which combined with several drinks at a party, resulted in a bad reaction.

Britney Spears' Very Public Slow Motion Train Wreck

If news reports are accurate, it would appear that Britney Spears is in dire straits. Her very public buzzcut was just the tip of the iceberg.

These reports now indicate that Spears attempted suicide while in rehab.
BRITNEY Spears broke down in rehab, reportedly trying to hang herself with a bedsheet after screaming "I am the anti-christ" to frightened staff.

She made the demonic cry after scrawling the devil's number "666" across her head.

Spears's manic behaviour has concerned relatives who once again fear for her safety, and has staff at the Promises Clinic in Malibu, California struggling to cope.

The former chart-topper's troubles have been revealed in Britain's News Of the World, which broke the exclusive story.

Within days of her suicidal behaviour, Spears - who was in and out of rehab before shaving her own head and later attacking a photographer's car with an umbrella - was begging estranged husband Kevin Federline not only for a reconciliation, but demanding she wanted to soon have another baby.

The ordeal began when she terrified staff by writing the number of the beast on her head and running around the clinic screaming, "I am the anti-christ!"

"The clinic people just didn't know what to do," a friend claimed.

The pop star then tried to hang herself with a bedsheet was but was found before she could hurt herself.
This is a woman who needs to get professional care as quickly as possible before she causes further harm to herself and may endanger others.

Post-partum depression may be playing a factor here, but her family and friends better step up before this ends very ugly for the mother of two young children.
You may not like her music or her wild ways, but she's a lost soul who needs support of family and loved ones, though that may still not be enough.

Indeed, this may be the second such attempt in just the past two weeks.

Invasion of the Pod People

Britney Spears is sure to turn heads for the foreseeable future with her Sinead O'Connor impression. She shaved her head completely bald and got herself a couple of tattoos. This is how she's going to improve her well being? Did she donate her hair to a worthy cause like Locks of Love, which would show that she experiences a bit of personal growth? Or was this yet another spur of the moment decision gone awry?

UPDATE:
Hot Air has more, including a reference to Travis Bickle, but Jammie has photos of Britney in the process of shaving her locks of hair.

This does not bode well for her mental health and well being. She has two children to care for and one has to wonder what the heck she's doing.
