There's a bit of good news about the WTC Memorial. They've welcomed 1 million visitors since it opened September 12, 2011 to the general public.
That's a significant jump in attendance over the figures released in November. On November 17, reports indicated that 500,000 visitors had attended the memorial, and projections indicated that the annual figure could reach 3 million.
Reaching the 1 million mark would appear to confirm those projections. There's no word on whether the Memorial has improved the free ticketing system so that people don't necessarily have to reserve space ahead of time to visit the memorial, but it would appear that this system will continue until further notice even though a significant number of reservations go unused.
