Egypt To Put Mubarak On Trial

The provisional government in Egypt is going to put former leader Hosni Mubarak on trial in Cairo.
Egyptian ex-President Hosni Mubarak will be put on trial in the capital, Cairo, state media say.

Egypt's health minister said Mr Mubarak, who is under arrest at a hospital in Sharm el-Sheikh, is healthy enough to be moved to the capital.

A hall at Cairo's Conference Center was being prepared for the trial beginning next week, the minister said.

Mr Mubarak is charged with corruption and ordering the killing of protesters before he was toppled in February.
There had been reports within the past few weeks that Mubarak had slipped into a coma and was in ill-health, and/or has been refusing to eat, as well renewed protests against the provisional government because the economic and social conditions are little changed since Mubarak's expulsion from power.
