Chinese Construction Accident Yields Photo of the Day

A 13 story building collapsed in Shanghai, killing one person who was believed to be a construction worker. However, collapse isn't quite the word to describe the situation, as the building keeled over to one side virtually intact, ripping up its foundations. Two other virtually identical buildings loom nearby.

You can be investigators will be looking at contractors taking shortcuts as a possible reason for the failure. They're lucky that the collapsed building was spaced far enough away from the other so as not to cause a progressive collapse taking out further buildings.
