Mayor Bloomberg Calls For Return of $4 Gas

He's nothing if not consistent. Mayor Bloomberg has again called for gas prices to rise to $4 per gallon as a way of reducing gas consumption and taking cars off the roads. Here's an idea. How about we tell Mayor Bloomberg to dump his multiple homes and all the cars, planes, and other assorted energy guzzling items in his possession. He can certainly afford the $4 per gallon gas, but most New Yorkers can't.

Driving prices up to $4 per gallon would cripple the economy, and he knows it. That he still wants to see the prices head in that direction tells you all you need to know about his motivations. Do as I say, but don't do as I do.

He's a billionaire who made his money by selling information technologies to customers who would have to buy computer platforms on which to use his information. He was very successful at this, and he didn't particularly mind that his customers energy bills jumped as a result. Now, he's wanting other people to pay for his ideas on what the proper price of gasoline should be, regardless of the actual science or the economic damage that it would do.

In fact, driving the prices up to $4 would further cripple the auto industry in the US, which remains heavily dependent on SUVs and other larger vehicles that most Americans prefer to get around.
