Charles Johnson reminds me that today is Medal of Honor day, honoring those recipients who received the nation's highest military decoration. Recipients often receive the honor posthumously as they have given their lives in order to save comrades from certain death or overwhelming odds.
The most recent recipients, from the Iraq and Afghan campaign are:
Ross McGinnis, Private First Class, U.S. Army, War In Iraq
Michael A. Monsoor, Master-at-Arms, U.S. Navy, War In Iraq
Michael P. Murphy, Lieutenant, U.S. Navy, War In Afghanistan
Jason L. Dunham, Corporal, U.S. Marine Corps, War In Iraq
Paul R. Smith, Sergeant First Class, U.S. Army, War In Iraq
We are in your debt and in awe of your sacrifices and courage in the face of the enemy.
The full list of recipients is here.
