So Green You Can't See It

Well, it is official. Wayne, New Jersey has banned the construction of wind power turbines anywhere within a quarter mile of any residence, school, or day care facility in the town. As a practical matter, that means that the only places in the town that can even consider siting wind power turbines is along Route 46 and Route 23 and other selected areas far out of view of those same people who want to claim that they've got green credentials.

They're nothing more than hypocrites. They would rather someone else have these wind power turbines built somewhere else to maintain their lifestyle than build it in their own backyard. They claim that they're an eyesore or that there are some supposed health effects that are unknown at the present as a reason to limit where the turbines can be built.

Throw in the fact that New Jersey's legislators don't want to drill for natural gas offshore (including the Democrats Corzine, Menendez, and Lautenberg), are dragging their feet on building wind power generation facilities offshore, and you begin to get the idea that New Jersey politicians are more interested in listening to their own hot air than providing solutions to the state's energy needs.
