Rangel's Explanation Rankles Dominican Constituents

It's something that I noted yesterday, but the New York Times interviewed some of Rep. Charles Rangel's constituents upon learning of Rangel's inane excuse that he didn't pay taxes because of language and cultural barriers with the Dominican managers of the Punta Cana resort where he owned a villa.

Some noted that Rangel speaks Spanish almost as well as they do (as a native Dominician).
One of his constituents, a woman born in New York to Puerto Rican parents, said her Spanish was functional, but not flawless, adding, “Charlie Rangel’s Spanish is as good as mine.”

The report on the villa had another effect, The New York Post reports. Mr. Rangel’s wife’s reaction to his picture in a newspaper was apparently the motivation he needed to begin a diet.
I think he needs more time to work on his diet.

Removing Rangel from the Ways and Means Committee is just a start. He insults the intelligence of everyone around him by making such inane claims. It's time for him to go.
