Biden Favors Clean Coal In China; Not For US

Should it surprise anyone that Sen. Joe Biden's mouth is getting him into trouble again? This time, he's claiming that the US shouldn't build clean coal power facilities, and that such facilities should instead be built in China.

So, where exactly would the US get its power from if not from coal? Biden touts wind power and solar, but that's a drop in the bucket compared to the power produced from coal, hydro, and nuclear power sources.

This isn't good news for the Obama campaign since Sen. Obama has said that the US should increase clean coal reliance.

The takeaway from all this? The Democrats are all over the map on this - and will say one thing to one crowd, and the opposite to another crowd depending on how the issue polls in those areas.

As Ben Smith further notes, Biden was on the global warming junk science bandwagon from the outset. Biden also makes it clear that China continues building coal power plants at a prodigious rate. He wants to see them build clean coal power plants in China. The problem is that he supports clean coal in China but opposes it in the US even as he acknowledges that the atmosphere is global - whatever is emitted overseas can and does affect the atmosphere in the US. What Biden really envisions is curbing US energy output, an eco-leftist dream and a nightmare for the rest of us.

UPDATE:
Hot Air has more on the Biden's coal comments, and how this will affect Pennsylvania voters and stands in opposition to Obama's position on clean coal. It also marks the third time in the past day that Biden has undermined Obama's position on key issues. The first was Biden's quick opposition to the Wall Street bailout; the second was Biden's comments on Obama's attack ad on McCain's email usage. Are we witnessing another step towards dumping Biden from the ticket? Obama and Biden clearly aren't on the same page here, and that's getting their message muddled, which may be tactic to garner votes - to say what a particular audience wants to hear.
