Why exactly is Sen. Barack Obama being so coy about his selection for Vice President? Why wait until Friday to possibly name it - the usual slot for a Friday night news dump where bad news usually goes into the memory hole because media coverage is less on Saturday?
He's apparently narrowed things down somewhat - though from CNN's take, that would still be quite a few characters. One person who supposedly wont be standing next to Obama at the end of the day will be Sen. Hillary Clinton, who apparently never even got vetted by Obama's people.
The problem is that in practically every instance, the person Obama chooses would have more experience than Obama. It raises the question as to why that person is not at the head of the ticket instead of Obama. That's why some are throwing out obscure politicians, so as to bolster Obama's own case.
Meanwhile, Sen. John McCain is doing his own dance on the VP selection, but the timing for that will probably coincide with the day after the DNC convention ends, so as to preempt whatever dead cat bounce the Democrats hope to ride from the convention spotlight.
