That's right folks, it's official. Former Vice President Al Gore has determined that the time is right to endorse Barack Obama for President.
What a way to make a principled stand. He waited to see who might win the nomination in the fight between Hillary Clinton and Obama, and didn't throw his support behind either candidate until the race was over.
How exactly does that help Obama? It certainly doesn't help with timing. Had Gore thrown his support behind Obama a month or two ago, it might have hastened Clinton's departure from the race and therefore made it easier to heal the wounds within the Democratic party.
Instead, we see Gore's political savvy shine through, which is to say that his timing is once again off.
