Olmert Says He'll Resign If Indicted

How nice of him to consider resigning under those conditions. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who took over the Kadima party when Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was stricken with an incapacitating stroke, has been a serious failure ever since. His waffling led to serious failures to deal with the Hizbullah threat in Lebanon. His refusal to deal decisively with the rocket war has meant that Southern Israel lives under the shadow of kassams and rockets fired on a near daily basis. That's the normalcy that Olmert has projected.

Through it all, Olmert has remained in power. This, despite the failure to deal with Hizbullah and the failure to deal with the Palestinian rocket war against Israel wasn't sufficient. If a criminal indictment against him personally is filed, then he'll go.

I guess we have yet more evidence that the only thing he cared about was his own skin, and no more.
