Israeli military leaders are telling Israelis to prepare rocket rooms for the inevitable next conflict between Israel and its neighbors. That's not a comforting thought since it pretty much is an admission that Israel's military no longer can act as a deterrent to the terrorists who continue to fire rockets and mortars at Israel on a daily basis.
Palestinian terrorists and Hizbullah all see the value of going after civilians - and attacking the vulnerable home front. They can't defeat the IDF on the field of battle, so they'll do the next best thing - defeat the Israeli people in the field of public opinion. And the leftists in the Israeli government will be more than accommodating of that policy.
Hamas now says that it will work closer with Egypt and will look to sever all ties with Israel in Gaza. Will that include reliance on Israel for power, water, and humanitarian aid?
Hamas talks of disengagement with Israel, despite the fact that Israel did just that in 2005 and the Palestinians simply used it as an opportunity to launch a war with Israel.
It's not much of a comfort since Israel chose to sever all ties with Gaza in 2005's disengagement, which only resulted in Hamas taking power and starting a rocket war that continues to this day. Egypt has been looking the other way for years to the smuggling operations that enable the Palestinians to rearm in Gaza despite the occasional reports saying that they've stopped Palestinian terrorist operations.
